Dare I say it? I've been pondering about Christmas, already. I mean ' Happy Christmas' as it says on the festive greeting cards. I am not talking about the philosophical or religious debate. But our everyday hopes and aspirations for Christmas. We want Christmas to be 'Happy' with a big 'H' Don't we? But Yet then why can Christmas be such a stressful time that is far from happy. Let's face it Christmas for many of us can and is so often disappointing and stressful. Is it just because the gifts we believed we deserved, and never received. Or is Christmas the particular time where there is such a focus on family and Uummm........friends engaging in attempted jollifications...that the effort to do so becomes unbearably stressful.! I notice that my client list seeking Stresscabin services gets longer just after Christmas. So it seems the pursuit of a Happy Christmas is Paradoxical. It turns out that Christmas can be made very stressful for us simply because we are so geared to making it Happy. For others, Christmas is so stressful because it brings to the surfaces serious flaws in their relationship and exposes the need for urgent relationship stress intervention. I know there is no formula that guarantees us a stress free Christmas. But how about trying this? Whatever Christmas brings to you or you bring to it, this year why not do something different and just try letting it be. If you do, be prepared for a pleasant surprise.
